Born on the Yuggera nation-South Brisbane, Kirstyn's Great Grandmother was born on the Wiradjuri nation with her family roots connected to Western New South Wales and South East Queensland.
She started her journey in community radio at 4ZZZFM in 1993 and now qualifies as a senior journalist & technical officer bringing over twenty five years experience in broadcast journalism, technical direction, engineering and production in education, broadcasting and corporate AV. Her passion for First Nations media and human rights stems from her training in para legal advocacy for women in prison motivated by Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and family violence prevention.
Kirstyn has recently completed a project with 3KND Kool N Deadly as a Specialist Journalist for Balit Dhumba -Strong Talk (Woiwurrung) 3KND's Treaty Engagement program and prior to that she was appointed as Acting Executive Producer with Living Black & NITV Radio at SBS Melbourne. Her hobbies include training in level A of a Reiki Mastership and she has followed her Great Great Grandmother's line as a herbalist in plant medicine lore completing an Alchemical Ecology course during the COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020.
